Dear Colonel Drury,

Air Ministry,

Strand. W.C. 2.

31st July 1918.

27

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 23rd July, and to express my regret that owing to

my absence in France I have been unable to reply earlier.

I am very sorry indeed that it should

be necessary to dispense with your services, but this is due only

to a re-organisation of the Department in which you are serving,

which makes it impossible to employ an officer of your standing. This therefore does not reflect in any way on the manner in which you have carried out the duties of your office, and indeed,

I wish to express to you my very sincere appreciation of the

energy and capacity which you have shown during the time you have

been employed in the Air Service.

Yours very truly,

(Signed)

Weir.
